There was an incident prior to the race in which Middlethorpe's bridle broke and his groom wrapped a handkerchief around his neck to keep hold of him until a new bridle was fitted. In the race itself the winner led from the start and won with ease from his stable companion, although 33/1 was laid against this forecast. Later in the meeting he won the Doncaster Stakes over 4 miles, but then missed the whole of the next season. In a career spanning 7 races he was successful in just the 4 early career races. | Over Round N/A | ||
